about

Back in the Spring of 2010, DeRobert and the Half-Truths congregated in Poor Man Studios to record a heart-bursting song. Recorded live to tape, “Just Friends” captures DeRobert’s supernatural ability to make you feel something the moment he sings. DeRobert laments about being in the friend zone, and describes what he’d do if the zone was gone. The band pops, sizzles and screams along with DeRobert as they build up this heartfelt piece.

lyrics

One more time I have been
Graced with your presence
Maybe tonight will be the night
That I get to give you what you need
Ooh baby why can’t you see
This look in my eyes
Is it not the sound in my voice
Or do you just ignore

When I drive all over town
Listen to you when you’re down
Do you wonder what’s wrong with me

I don’t have what it takes to tell you
But I know in everything I see you
There ain’t nothing I wouldn’t go through

Can we be more than just friends
Ooh wee baby baby
I want to be more

Now the time is right
We can spoil this
When that moment we’re cussing fussing and fighting
All the words that I say just to you
I can’t describe what I plan to do to you
Let’s ease on back and see what could begin
I just can’t I just can’t hold you as a friend

When I drive all over town
Listen to you when you’re down
You wonder what’s wrong with me

I don’t have what it takes to tell you
But I know in everything I see you
There ain’t nothing I wouldn’t do

I can’t see myself without you
No more
Can you be more
Can you be more than just friends
Do you hear me
Do you hear me
Do you hear me
Yeah
Hey
I gotta be more than just friends
Yes I do yeah

You see I gotta be like Mister Lenny Williams
He said I watched TV until the TV just wasn’t on no more
He said I called every friend in the phone book
Nobody would pick up
I can’t take this no more
No noo nooo
Yeah
